Case Study: Vågan Municipality
Safeguarding the Community with F24 CIM for comprehensive emergency preparedness and crisis management.
.

“By using the same system in everyday life as in
crises, there will be fewer specialist systems for
users to deal with – and therefore more effective
emergency preparedness.”
Since 2009, Vågan Municipality has relied on CIM to manage both daily operations and emergency preparedness in a challenging Arctic environment. Located on islands north of the Arctic Circle, the municipality often faces isolation due to severe weather. Limited transport routes, and an influx of over 300,000 tourists annually, are among their challenges.
With CIM, Vågan streamlines emergency planning, internal control, and incident response. When a bus accident in 2024 left several tourists injured and stranded, the municipality used CIM to quickly mobilize extra personnel and resources.
In daily operations, the fire department uses CIM for tasks like equipment checks, air cylinder testing, and tracking fire officer certifications. Mobile access makes it easy for staff to log updates on the go, giving the control room real-time oversight.
By using one system for both routine work and crises, Vågan reduces costs, avoids complexity, and ensures a faster, more coordinated response when it matters most.
