Case Study: Firebrigade
Ensuring community safety through effective emergency management and comprehensive training.
“It is very important that we in fire and rescue have a tool that is adapted to us and our everyday life. Therefore, we have chosen CIM instead of the standard deviation tool that the municipalities use in other units.”
Since 2020, three fire departments in Innlandet County have collaborated to adapt their own CIM solution for use in daily operations, in addition to incident and crisis management. With SMS notifications, deviation registration and a competence overview, the CIM solution helps to raise the quality of the fire and rescue service for four municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants.
In the fire service, there are also a lot of different skills that need to be maintained. Everything from emergency preparedness skills to smoke diving certificates and driver’s licenses for emergency services. Since the vast majority of firefighters are part-time employees, it is demanding to have an up-to-date overview of this. The three fire and rescue organizations therefore use CIM to document everything from exercises, re-certifications and blue light training. Thus, they have a comprehensive overview of the crews, who has which certificates and who needs to renew theirs.
